Managing Waste, Revitalizing Tourism Villages

The waste problem in the Borobudur Temple area has become a key concern, as the site is designated a Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP). To address this, we are collaborating with Ayo Bikin Nyata by Telkom Indonesia through the development plan of the 3R Waste Processing Facility (TPS 3R) in Tuksongo, Borobudur—focusing on maggot cultivation as feed for catfish farming.

Additionally, we are running a follow-up program: an educational tourism village to support the Borobudur DPSP. One of its initiatives includes training programs on waste sorting for all community members, aimed at producing unique and high-quality souvenirs from recycled and repurposed materials to attract both local and international visitors.

Village Youth Can Be YouTubers Too!

To empower rural youth to become more productive, creative, and inspiring, we collaborated with GeTI Media—part of the GeTI Incubator—to launch One Village One YouTuber (OVOY), a YouTube vlog competition showcasing the unique aspects of villages and promoting their potential through digital technology.

The OVOY grand event featured a talk show with two well-known YouTubers, Aulion and Aldivo, who shared insights into the world of content creation. The event also included the announcement of the best YouTube vlog winners, who received prizes and professional YouTuber training to help develop their villages through digital content.
